PLEASE NOTE that we do NOT advise to use a GPS device in the Waterberg area. It is exactly 270km from OR Tambo, Johannesburg International airport. All roads are tar road except the last 800m to our gate. It should take you about 3 hours, depending on your speed, traffic and number of stops.

From the Airport at Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo International).

  • Take the R21 to Pretoria.
  • Then take the N1 (toll road) to Polokwane.
  • Follow Polokwane till exit sign Modimolle/Nylstroom.
  • Leave the N1 at Kranskop Toll Plaza and follow Vaalwater signage.
  • Once in Vaalwater go straight ahead, till the red colored petrol/fuel station TOTAL and SPAR supermarket on your left hand side. Turn right towards Ellisras/Lephalale.
  • Tip: set your odo meter on 0 km at the Total station
  • You will see a brown coloured road sign with "Dinkweng". You will turn into the dirtroad just after the second sign. The dirt road is exactly 32km from Total Petrol station.
  • After approx. 800m you will find the gate to Ama Amanzi Bush Lodge on your left hand side.

NOTE that the gate is always locked, make sure you contact us when in Vaalwater so we can open the gate and give you a personal welcome.

Ama Amanzi is easy accessible, from Johannesburg/Pretoria area you will drive tar road only but the last 800m to our gate. The dirt road is a relatively good road and on the property itself you will find good accessible dirt roads through the bush.
