Note that some GPS systems are less accurate once in the Waterberg area. We advise you to check and compare with our route description below.
It is exactly 270km from OR Tambo, Johannesburg International airport. All roads are tar road except the last 800m to our gate. It should take you about 3 hours, depending on your speed, traffic and number of stops. Drive safe!
From the Airport at Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo International).
• Take the R21 to Pretoria.
• Then take the N1 (toll road) to Polokwane.
• Follow Polokwane till exit sign Modimolle/Nylstroom.
• Leave the N1 at Kranskop Toll Plaza and follow Vaalwater signage.
You are almost there.
Once in Vaalwater go straight ahead, till the red colored petrol/fuel (Total) station and supermarket (Spar) on your left-hand side. Turn right towards Ellisras/Lephalale.
After 32km turn left onto the dirt road (tip: set your odometer on zero at Spar supermarket and look for the official little road poles with kilometer indications)
Be on the lookout for the brown-coloured sign “Dinkweng”.
These two signs will lead you to the dirt road; at the second sign you actually turn left into the dirtroad.
Once on the little dirt road, after approx. 800m, you will find the gate to Ama Amanzi Bush Lodge on your left-hand side.
NOTE that the gate is always locked, make sure you contact us when in Vaalwater so we can open the gate and give you a personal welcome.
Check in strictly between 15:00-17:00 for safety and convenience.
We strongly advise you not to arrive after darkness due to bush environment with wildlife present and true darkness with unlit roads for example.

Ama Amanzi is easy accessible, from Johannesburg/Pretoria area you will drive tar road only but the last 800m to our gate. The dirt road is a relatively good road and on the property itself you will find good accessible dirt roads through the bush.
